Student Organizations

Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO’s) can play an important role in every CTE student’s experience. CTSO’s develop character, leadership, technical, and teamwork skills and are a natural extension of the classroom. Additionally, students involved in student organizations have the opportunity to participate in competitions locally and beyond.

Lamar CISD actively sponsors the following student organizations:

	DECA DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.	www.deca.org
	Future Farmers of America (FFA) Making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture education.	www.ffa.org
	Future Health Professionals (HOSA) The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community.	www.hosa.org
	Skills USA SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel.	www.skillsusa.org
	Technology Student Association (TSA) The Technology Student Association fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering. Members apply and integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts through co-curricular activities, competitive events and related programs.	www.tsaweb.org
	The Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) The Texas Association of Future Educators or TAFE (pronounced "taffy") is a co-curricular statewide non-profit (501 c3) student organization created to allow young men and women an opportunity to explore the teaching profession. The organization was created in 1984 to provide the best and brightest high school and middle school students in Texas with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions about pursuing careers in education. TAFE is sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and is governed by a board of directors comprised of teachers, students and principals.	www.tafeonline.org
	National Technical Honor Society promotes educational excellence and higher standards for career and technical education. NTHS honors the achievement of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive skilled workforce.
