Library Mission

The mission of Lamar Consolidated ISD Libraries is to create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature, foster a love of reading, and serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing and delivering powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.

Library Policies

Students can check out 2 books at a time to keep for 2 weeks.  There are no late fees for overdue books, but after 90 days the book will be marked as lost and a fine charged for the cost of the book.  If the book is found and returned, the fine will be deleted.

When can students visit the library?

Before school:
The library opens at 8:30 a.m., and students must pick up a pass from the gym or cafeteria before heading to the library.  Each house has its designated day to visit before school:
  • Monday: Blue House
  • Tuesday: Red House
  • Wednesday: Green House
  • Thursday: Yellow House
  • Friday: Orange House (everyone)
During class:
At the teacher's discretion, students can visit the library once they finish their work during class.

Lunch:
On Fridays students can pick up a pass from the cafeteria to come to the library once they have finished eating lunch.
