About Steenbergen Middle School

James Everett Steenbergen was born in 1945 in Glasgow, Kentucky. He graduated from Plano High School and attended Texas A&M University. In 1969, he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering. He worked for Union Carbide for more than 31 years.  

Mr. Steenbergen was an active member and served as president of the American Society of Lubrication Engineers (ASLE). He was also very involved within his community and organizations, including: 

Salvation Army, Danbury Chapter in Connecticut 
National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Board of the West Virginia Chapter 
Bridlewood Property Owners Association, Board of Directors and President 
American Red Cross, Fort Bend Chapter 
Water/Wastewater Impact Fee Task Force, City of Rosenberg  
Oak Bend Hospital, Health Exchange Advisory Board 
Child Advocates of Fort Bend, Advisory Council & Council Chairman 
Sugar Land Exchange Club, Member 
Common Threads, Volunteer 

Mr. Steenbergen had a heart for education and was a member of the Lamar CISD Board of Trustees. He was president for three years. His mission was always to serve his community. His great legacy will live on and touch the lives of many.
