Valedictorian Natalie Gee is the daughter of Andrew Gee and Cindy Gee. She plans to attend the University of Texas to major in Biomedical Engineering. One day, she hopes to become a biomedical engineer, likely working in the research field or developing medical technology.
Natalie has held numerous leadership positions during high school including vice president of Student Council, secretary of National Honor Society, basketball team player, peer tutor in Ambassador to the Mustang Pen peer tutor, Youth in Philanthropy scholar, youth intern at the Chinese Baptist Church, a member of the youth worship team, and a volunteer in the kids ministry.
Additionally, she received a scholarship from the Henderson-Wessendorff Foundation.
Her favorite quote is a scripture verse from 1 John 4:19, "We love because he first loved us."
Natalie said, “I'd like to thank my parents, Andrew, and Cindy Gee, for all their love and support. I wouldn't be where I am without them.”
Natalie’s goal is to make a positive impact on the world through her professional career and in her daily interactions with those around her. In her free time, she enjoys calligraphy.
Salutatorian Rene Martinez is the son of Rene & Esperanza Martinez. He plans to attend Rice University to major in Biomedical Engineering. One day, he aspires to have a career in pharmaceutical or academic research.
During his time at Lamar Consolidated, Rene was a proud member of Technology Student Association, National Honor Society as well as a teacher and musician at church, a NASA High School Aerospace Scholar, and a MIT MOSTEC Scholar.
Additionally, Rene received a QuestBridge National College Match designation to attend Rice University. Match Scholarship Recipients are granted early admission to one of QuestBridge's college partners with a full four-year scholarship, worth over $200,000.
His favorite quote is by Marcus Aurelius, "Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back."
Rene said, “I would like to thank my parents for giving me this opportunity to be where I am today. I would also like thank: Mr. Oliver, Ms. McCain, Ms. Boardman, and Ms. Rausch for giving me creative liberty in a ridged system.”
Rene’s goal is to be a decent person. In his free time, he enjoys listening to and playing music.
