Sonya Sanzo Danny Ward
At its regular June meeting, Lamar CISD’s Board of Trustees approved two secondary principals, one who will takes over in time for the 2015-2016 school year and another who will not open their campus until 2016-2017.
Sonya Sanzo is the new principal at Wessendorff Middle School. An assistant principal at Reading Junior High School since it opened in 2010, Sanzo began her career in Lamar CISD as a counselor at Huggins Elementary.
She also served as school counselor at Briscoe Junior High and Wertheimer Middle School and as summer school principal at Wertheimer.
Sanzo also taught and coached in Cypress-Fairbanks schools.
She has her bachelor’s from Texas State University and her master’s from Sam Houston State University. She is finishing up her doctorate at the University of Houston.
Danny Ward will be the first principal at Fulshear High School when it opens for the 2016-2017 school year. Ward comes to Lamar CISD after six years as the principal at Taylor High School, in Taylor, TX.
His career includes serving as principal at a middle school and an elementary in Taylor and as a principal and assistant principal in Irving ISD. Prior to entering administration, Ward taught science in the Irving, Granbury, Clute and Kemp schools.
His bachelor’s and master’s degrees are from Tarleton State University.
