For the sixth straight year, Lamar CISD teachers, administrators and volunteers will take to the streets, trying to find students who are willing to give school another chance.
The Dropout Recovery Walk will be Sept. 13, with teams leaving from each of the Lamar CISD’s four high schools.
“We’ll be knocking on doors that Saturday morning,” said Rhett Gray, Special Programs Administrator for Lamar CISD. “We want to find those kids who have left school for some reason and let them know they are welcome back and that there are many options available for them to get on the path to graduation.”
After registering, teams will be assigned several students. Using the last known address, the student will be visited and encouraged to return to school.
Visits begin around 9 a.m. and are usually completed before noon.
