The Mustang Playhouse at Lamar Consolidated High School will perform Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias, Oct. 18 and 19 in Herndon Auditorium.
Before it was a movie starring some of Hollywood's greatest actresses, Steel Magnolias was a play about the real-life women who surrounded and supported Robert Harling's sister and mother during difficult life circumstances. The play is written in memory of Susan Harling Robinson and dedicated to her son and Harling's nephew, Robert, to provide him with "a sense of his past."
The character of Truvy best sums up the nature of the play when she says, "Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion."
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens and all tickets can be purchased at the door. LCISD employees receive one free ticket with their employee ID.
The Oct. 19 performance will feature a silent auction. Please contact the Mustang Playhouse office at 832-223-3137 or at [email protected] for more information.
The cast of Steel Magnolias include (top) Lily Bateman, Mackenzie Cook, Meagan Mouton, (bottom row) Hannah Hall, Abigail Peterson and Amanda Vignes.
