In addition to Red Ribbon Week and School Bus Safety Week, Lamar CISD schools are also celebrating National Character Counts Week during Oct. 22-26. Character Counts was created in 1992 with a coalition of 17 nationally prominent youth serving and educational organizations.
The program focuses on the development of core ethical traits – trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. It has continuously evolved to reflect current research and best practices to become a comprehensive student development program.
