The first round of 5th grade STAAR scores came in recently from the state. I am so proud of our 5th graders for the outstanding performance on the Math and Reading STAAR tests. Our 5th grade Math score of 99% passing was tied for 1st in the district and our 97% passing for Reading was 1st in the district. Our 5th grade students and staff are to be commended for their exemplary performance on this year’s state tests. We are still awaiting results on 5th grade Science, 3rd grade Math and Reading, and 4th grade Math, Reading, and Writing. Let’s hope we are as successful on these tests as well!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and we have activities planned all week for the staff to show our support for all of their hard work throughout the year. PTO has something scheduled every day this week to let teachers and staff know they are supportive of them. I will be cooking hamburgers for staff on Wednesday so if you see me scurrying back and forth to the teacher’s lounge you will know why.
Mrs. Brown, our music teacher, has been having some great student performances during the year. Second grade put on a great Cinco de Mayo performance and the choir will be performing next Tuesday at 1:00 and 7:00. Feel free to come and enjoy the presentation.
The Fall Fundraiser Party will take place Thursday, May 15th around 1:30. All students who sold 5 or more items during the Fundraiser or paid to opt out, will be invited to attend.
