Dear Parents,
Here in Lamar CISD, our primary focus is always on the safety and well-being of our students. Part of that commitment is keeping you informed.
Recently, District leadership was made aware of a social media trend circling various platforms. This trend encourages students to create false reports of threats on their campus in order to enact a response from local law enforcement.
While we have not seen this happen at any of our campuses, I want to remind our students the importance of continuing to do the right thing. False reporting is not only unacceptable, it creates unnecessary risks, needless pandemonium and wastes valuable time of our first responders. In Lamar CISD, all threats and rumors are taken seriously and any student found to be involved in disrupting the learning environment in any way will receive appropriate disciplinary action
All to say, please remind your student that if they hear or see anything that could threaten the safety of our school community to tell an adult as soon as possible—nothing is too small. The safety of every student, staff member, and guest is always our first priority. If there is ever an emergency situation or a credible concern for student safety, parents will always be notified.
Additionally, please take this opportunity to review Lamar CISD's Standard Response Protocol, which helps us maintain a safe learning and working environment for all students and staff.
If you would like to receive text message alerts from the District and have not added your text message number in Skylert, please follow these instructions to opt in to these messages.
Again, I’d like to commend our students for the part they play in ensuring all of our campuses maintain a safe school environment for all.
Dr. Roosevelt Nivens
Superintendent
